How To Detox Your Body With Dry Skin Brushing
It’s amazing to think that your body gets rid of around 1/2kg (1Ib) of waste products through your skin each day. That’s why it’s so important to look after your skin. If your pores get clogged with dead skin cells, the impurities will remain in your body, placing undue stress on your liver and kidneys and leading eventually to an overloaded system.
That’s why daily dry skin brushing is so important, especially when you’re on a detox program. It keeps your pores clear, allows the skin to ‘breathe’ and makes your skin look brighter and feel sorter.
Brushing also stimulates your blood flow and lymph flow, leading to more efficient removal of waste products.
So how do you do it? First, invest in a natural bristle brush or loofah. Start brushing at the soles of your feet, working up your legs, front, chest, back and finally your hands and arms. Avoid your face. Use firm, long strokes – really as firm as you can bear – brushing towards your heart to encourage blood flow. The whole process should take about 5 minutes – you’ll feel quite warm afterwards because you will have stimulated your circulation.
