How To Detox Your Body – Massage and Relaxation

Detox Your Body Through Deep Breathing and Relaxation

The way you breathe affects the balance of your body and mind. If you are tense or stressed your breathing tends to be shallow. This means that you will take in less oxygen and it will be harder for your lungs to expel waste products and toxins.

If you breathe deeply you will take in more oxygen, feel more relaxed and improve your overall health. Sounds obvious, really, but it’s surprising how many of us don’t get it right!

This is what you should do. Breathe in slowly through your nose, allowing your diaphragm to expand downwards. You’ll be able to feel your abdomen rise. Pause for a moment then breathe out through your mouth.

Manual lymphatic drainage massage

There’s nothing quite like a great massage, is there? All types of massage are beneficial for stimulating the circulation, but lymphatic drainage massage focuses on stimulating the lymphatic circulation (your body’s drainage system that carries nutrients into cells and removes waste products).

It’s a gentle massage that encourages the removal of released toxins and leaves you with a wonderful feeling of relaxation. Soaking in Epsom salt baths, saunas and steam rooms before this will relax the muscles and encourage further elimination of toxins.

Complementary therapies

If you can afford it, treat yourself to at least one complementary treatment during your detox diet. Choose from reflexology, Indian head massage, reiki massage or the Alexander technique.

Complementary therapies are very useful for rebalancing your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state during your detox program. You’ll find yourself with a heightened sense of well-being and relaxation.
